So here is the info I have gathered so far regarding my computer - for some reason in BIOS (No clue that that mean and TBH I don't care to know atm) does not recognize that I have a hardrive. So it could be fried or there coul be an issue with one of the wires connecting to the hardrive.

A friend of mine will be taking a look at the comp tomorrow so I should have a better idea of what's going on. Fingers crossed that my hardive is not fried b/c that means everything is lost and a new comp is not in the cards for me right now.

To deal with the stress of all of this I stayed in bed till 1230pm today - quite a feat since I now have a 5 week old. I proceded to get out of bed and nap on the sofa all day to avoidd thinking about the loose (this typo done on purpose just for Minth).

So cross your fingers, nipples or streams that there is just some lose (again for Minth) wire and I'll be good to go soon.

Just for your info Bryn. If your hard-drive is not recognised likely the hard drive is dead or something has affected the power supply to it - unless your 5 week old was kicking the pc to knock a wire looooose.

Thats the bad news.

The good news is you wont need a "new computer" if its just the hdd. Hard drives cost 50-100$ depending on your requirements for disk space. That's all you might need replaced if you are unfortunatel enough to have lost it. The shittiest thing about losing an hdd nowadays is the data you loseeee versus the actual hardware loooooss.
from personal experience - usually the lose of a hard drive doesn't manifest in the device not recognized in the BIOS - it usually doesnt spin up (you can here some kind of click/tick if you listen closely to the case) and you'll get a " Insert boot system disk" or some inane message when it gets to the loading screen - so your odds might be fairly good that its a wiring issue - i'll keep fingers crossed.

If you are hearing the clicking sound instead of a mini jet type sound you're likely sol.
